"Some people are just born lucky.....
some are not."
The Henley team’s growth from its beginning in 1989 to being Victoria’s largest home builder by 1994 and Australia’s largest by 1998 was not luck – its new home designs and new levels of efficiency changed the home building industry...
The luck was being born healthy in a wealthy country.
In 1993 the team added a new approach to corporate philanthropy to change the luck of those less fortunate. The result is over $17 million dollars to local and overseas charities... and now growing at over $1.5 million dollars annually
FLINDERS MEDICAL CENTRE

Thank you from a family who has benefitted from our charity support.
Dear Henley Team,
Thank you so much for your sponsorship of the parents' room at Flinders Medical Centre - when our daughter Agnes was born three weeks ago she was very poorly and stayed on Neonates for eight days. Due to your generous sponsorship we were able to stay near her after I was discharged which was a huge comfort at a very stressful time, the alternative would have been sleeping in the car to stay close to her which would have been very uncomfortable after a caesarean.
Without the parents' room there is very little chance that Agnes would be successfully breast-feeding and would have struggled to gain the weight necessary to come home, it made a vital difference to us when we needed it most. Please find attached a photo of Agnes preparing to enjoy her first Christmas at home - thank you once again for your sponsorship which was so much appreciated by our little family and will not be forgotten.
Merry Christmas to all at Henley and many thanks,
Catherine, Sean and Agnes
OXFAM TRAIL WALKER CHALLENGE
100KM, TEAMS OF 4, 48 HOURS
Two Henley staff members undertook the Oxfam 100km Trail walker challenge on April 16th and succeeded in a total time of 26:51mins and placing 40th out of 180 all female teams who participated.
Maria Vera and Jessica Jones were one half of the 4 person team who completed this gruelling team challenge with their feet telling the true tale of 100km just walked.
The event beginning at Jells Park Ferntree Gully, winding through to Lysterfield lake up to Olinda and Woori Yallock and finishing up at the 100km mark of Wesburn Park - the track was not for the faint hearted. The training over 4 months put them in good stead to attempt the 100 km walk. The team set the task of raising $3000 to donate to the many global projects Oxfam offers assistance too and with the final tally being counted the total is getting close to $8,500. A terrific result!
Oxfam assists where assistance is most immediately and urgently needed. Their portfolio of charity work spreads far and wide from offering immediate response relief and rescue after the Haiti earthquake, medical help to HIV/aids children in Africa, assisting with providing sanitation and hygiene control, challenging human rights where inequality exists and so much more. As you can imagine such work requires significant support for it to continue.
Congratulations to all the Oxfam participants all 700 plus teams. A tremendous effort!
