Jeans for Genes Day
On the first Friday of August every year the staff of Henley participate in Jeans for Genes day to help raise funds for the Children’s Medical Research Institute. It’s the recognized day for millions of Aussies to wear jeans and make a donation, or buy merchandise, to help scientists find answers to genetic childhood diseases.

Astoundingly, genetic disorders still affect one child in 20. Diseases such as leukaemia, epilepsy and cystic fibrosis are just some, but many are quite rare and even unnamed.

Over 14 years Jeans for Genes have raised millions of dollars for equipment and research aimed at preventing suffering and ensuring good health for all children. It is an extraordinarily complex, labour-intensive and costly endeavour partly because CMRI’s world-leading breakthroughs rely on state-of-the-art equipment.
