BARNESY’S BACK FOR AN AUCTION, A CONCERT AND ALL FOR THE KIDS

Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes was back in Adelaide today to launch the ‘Henley Properties Home of Hope at Hawksbury Park, Salisbury North’, a two-storey four bedroom home to be sold at a no-reserve auction in November to raise funds for the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation in aid of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Australian rock legend and father of five also announced the Jimmy Barnes Concert for the Kids presented by Henley Properties, South Australian Housing Trust and City of Salisbury and to be held directly after the auction.

Both fundraising events are generously supported by Channel 7 Adelaide and Mix 102.3, who will donate airtime and promotional support throughout July to November as a lead up to the auction and concert.

For the first time in three years, Jimmy Barnes and full band, including family members, will perform at an outdoor family concert on Sunday 27 November at the Salisbury United Soccer Club, Parallel Rd, Salisbury North.

Jimmy’s family members all feature on his new duets album ‘Double Happiness’ which is currently Australia’s most anticipated album (Music Network, Monday 11 July), released yesterday.

Tickets for the alcohol-free Jimmy Barnes Concert for the Kids are $15 per student/concession, $26 per adult and $61 per family of four (two adults and two children under 16) and are on sale on Monday 25 July from Venue-Tix (Tel: 8225 8888).

The auction and the concert are expected to raise over $250,000 for the FMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to purchase vital equipment and upgrade in-hospital family accommodation for its State-wide service.

Prestige home-builder Henley Properties donated the Henley Properties Home of Hope at Hawksbury Park, Salisbury North, and South Australian Housing Trust donated the land on which the home is currently being built at Elmgrove Road, Salisbury North.

Minister for Families and Communities, Jay Weatherill, was proud that Hawksbury Park would play home to the charity events.

“Through the State Government’s $180 million, 10-year Salisbury North Urban Improvement Project, Hawksbury Park has evolved as a hub for a range of vibrant housing and community initiatives,” Mr Weatherill said.

“We are pleased to support these events which will see Jimmy Barnes return to Adelaide’s northern suburbs to raise money for such a wonderful cause as the Flinders Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.”

The Mayor of Salisbury, Tony Zappia congratulated Henley Properties and the Housing Trust for their community generosity.

“It’s terrific to have such an event in Salisbury, especially at a time when Salisbury North is changing so positively,” Mr Zappia said.

The style of home being built is called the ‘Chiltern’ and brochures can be picked up from the Henley Properties Display Village at Springbank Boulevard, Burton. The display village is currently open Monday, Wednesday and weekends from 11am to 5pm.

The Henley Properties Home of Hope at Hawksbury Park, Salisbury North will be open for viewing from October and the no-reserve auction will be at 12pm on Sunday 27 November 2005.
