Mater Health Services in Brisbane includes three public and four private hospitals caring for more than half a million patients each year. The Sisters of Mercy pioneered public health services in Brisbane nearly 100 years ago. They funded their services to the poor from the revenue of the first Mater Private Hospital, established in 1906. Today, Mater public hospitals are at the forefront of clinical excellence and are always developing new methods, practices and techniques for better patient outcomes. Mater public hospitals have a reputation of international acclaim for world-leading healthcare advances, and the individual hospitals are regularly acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to healthcare.

The House for Life luxury two-storey, four bedroom house in Riverstone Crossing, Upper Coomera went under the hammer on Saturday October 30 2010.
Raising $509,000 for seriously ill and premature babies at Mater Mothers' Hospitals, Brisbane.
The successful bidder on the day was an interstate buyer who made his bid via mobile phone from the Derby Day races in Melbourne.
Mater Foundation Executive Director, Nigel Harris thanked everyone involved in the project and highlighted what a huge achievement the House for Life project was.
"Congratulations to the house's new owner, not only have you purchased a stunning home, you have helped fund life-saving equipment for Mater Mothers' Hospital's Neonatal Critical Care Unit which cares for babies as young as 23 weeks and weighing as little as 400 grams," Mr Harris said.
"We are extremely grateful for the dedication of Plantation Homes and everyone involved in the House for Life project."
Over the past six months, Queensland builder Plantation Homes and a dedicated group of approximately 100 suppliers and local sub-contractors, volunteered their time and donated all materials to the project.
This is the third house that Plantation Homes has partnered with Mater Foundation with all funds donated benefiting the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU).
Through the NCCU, Mater provides specialised medical and nursing care to 2000 seriously ill and premature babies each year. With 79 cot spaces, health care professionals provide 24 hour care for seriously ill and premature babies.
Since its beginnings almost 50 years ago, Mater Mothers' Hospitals have been the birthplace for over 300,000 babies, welcoming more than 9000 babies into the world each year.
Brisbane's Mater Mothers' Hospitals are renowned as leaders in the provision of high quality maternity services and have one of the largest neonatology services in the southern hemisphere.

On Saturday June 13th "Lives really were changed" with the sale of Plantation homes 2nd charity house for the Mater hospital Brisbane. The record crowd witnessed the lucky bidder secure the luxury 4 bedroom house for $650,000. The day was blessed with warm June weather, lovely food donated by North lakes Rotary club with special guests from the Mater’s mothers hospital. The money raised will go directly to assisting the hospitals neo natal ward where many dedicated professionals care for our littlest treasures. The North Lakes house situated on the picturesque North Lakes golf course comes complete with professionally landscaped garden, timber decked alfresco area, feature walls, flooring and feature light fittings.
Congratulation to the lucky bidder who truly has helped to make a difference and lastly we could not forget a tremendous thank you to all the subcontractors, suppliers and volunteers who without your generosity this could not have been made possible.
In 2007, Henley built and auctioned a house for the Mater hospital which raised $515,00 for the hospital. In 2008 Henley are again in talks to build another house for the hospital. The goal of this partnership is to raise money to go towards the new Mater Mothers Hospital ‘New Life Centre’ which is currently under construction. Once the project is complete, the neonatology unit will be celebrated as the largest in the southern hemisphere.

Royal Children’s Hospital, Queensland
The Royal Children’s Hospital is equipped with 160 beds for sick and injured children, a wide spread of community-based medical clinics, an outreach program caring for regional kids, and telephone help lines for poisons and child health. Their support and services touch the lives of more than 100,000 children each year.
