History
In the early 1990s, the company had been operating for just three years. It had been a very low period for the housing industry. But Henley was thriving. The directors wanted to say ‘thank you’ to the community for the support the company was receiving and it was decided that a house should be built and the proceeds from the sale of the house would go to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

With that decision, Henley then approached all the relevant suppliers and trades. The response was magnificent. Suppliers and trades, alike, were all tremendously generous. Together they enabled Henley to make the home a reality.

Very soon, the Herald Sun became involved, along with VicUrban who agreed to donate the land. And so the Henley relationship with the Royal Children Hospital, Good Friday Appeal was formed. In 1995, Henley made the decision to double the level of support, by auctioning two homes each year to the cause, creating and maintaining Henley’s Tradition of Giving which has now continued for the last 15 years.

The Managing Director of Henley, Peter Hayes, is a great supporter of the Company’s involvement in the Good Friday Appeal. “If our efforts mean that the life of one child is changed for the better, then it is all worthwhile,” he says.

From this platform Henley maintained its commitment to the community and has also expanded the projects which it supports to an international level. Henley was involved with the funding of a children’s orphanage in Africa between 2005 & 2006. The project included the establishment of medical facilities and a school for the children of the orphanage and the greater community.

In addition to the orphanage in Kenya, the group has made a move to provide scholarships to children in Kenya, and support Opportunity International’s microfinance project in India.

Locally Henley has just announced a new partnership with the renowned Reach Foundation. Now Henley and Reach will join together to build a luxurious home in Melbourne with the proceeds from the sale of the house going directly to the grass roots work of the Reach Foundation. The Henley-Reach partnership is new. But as you can see reaching into the community is nothing new for Henley.

In 2007 Henley announced a new partnership with the Reach foundation. To date this partnership has raised over $300,000 from the sale of 2 luxury Bayside properties. This money has gone towards contributing to the numerous camps and out reach programs dedicated to improving the self confidence of teenagers across Australia.

2009 will see the auction of our 30th RCH hospital house on Good Friday, Another house built for the Mater Hospital in Queensland and the Group looking to undertake many new projects.
